Process Art Workshop

This afternoon we read the book Art by Patrick McDonnell to help inspire our projects. Art loves to draw and scribble and paint. He loves lines and colors and experimenting with both; in fact there’s no stopping him when Art feels inspired and his world is full of inspiration. Art zigs and zags lines all over any paper. He scribbles and splotches with dots and swirls a line into an amazing curlicue.

This book introduces many elements of Art and helps encourage young artists to explore color, line, and texture.

Our project today was Coffee Filter Art. The children colored a design on their filters with markers. Then afterward the fun began as the children could spray their art with water to create a colorful watercolor look. The water allows the colors to soften and blend together — any white spaces quickly disappear as the colors mix together and new colors and shapes are made.
